Well, there is an issue if you are not getting the internet speed for which you are paying your ISP. Some factors are there, affecting the speed of your internet connection, but if you cant figure that out, let’s find out in this article.

There are some issues that we can diagnose and fix ourselves if we can successfully figure them out. This is the same reason when you call any internet service providers customer support, they ask few questions and usually request some DIY steps to see if that helps or you need expert help. Usually, it’s just a minor technical issue or some glitch, or else they refer the expert to help you resolve or visit your place to see and fix it.

For an instance, in one room, you enjoy YouTube without buffering, while in the other, it takes time to load and play the videos. This situation usually takes place when the distance between you and your Wi-Fi router increases than usually. Regardless of what the reason is, you can try the following tips to enhance your internet connection speed before you call customer support and wait for them to connect in the queue of waiting calls.

1. Restart the modem: Restarting the modem or router will make you feel an improved speed while using the same internet connection. It is the easiest tip that you can try before moving further.

2. Clear Caches: Your devices store memory in the form of cache data. If you have not cleared it for a while, it is time to clear it and see if this makes any difference. Doing it will significantly improve your internet connection.

3. Software Update: Look for the system software and install the latest version if you see any in the notifications or go manually. Software updates bring slight but evident improvements along with them.

4. Use ad-blocker: Ads you see also consume your internet data. Using an ad-blocker will not consume your internet as you will not see those ads anymore. Ad-blockers are not for free, thus you have to pay a small amount if enjoying reliable internet is your supreme priority.

5. Connected Devices: Do you use all devices that are connected to your internet? There might be one or more devices that you don’t use but are still connected to. Removing additional devices or gadgets that are not in use will reduce the stress from the server and you will get better quality of internet. This might even resolve the sluggish internet speed. Be vigilant.

6. Change Your ISP: Talk to the customer support department of your internet service provider and they will help you resolve the issues with or without technical assistance. However, if you do not see any improvement in your internet connection after several tries, it is time to change your ISP. It is the last option, as you don’t have any choice left. You have to pay the bill anyway, and then why not pay where you get satisfactory services.

7. Test your internet speed

Many websites are there that will let you check your internet speed if you google. Visit any of the speed testing websites and check the speed of your internet. You can also check the downloading and uploading speed of your internet connection. Check it a few times, and if the speed remains always slow, it is better to change your internet connection.

8. Placement of Wi-Fi

The positioning of your Wi-Fi router is what matters the most. We might not think it’s that important but the placement of your devices that transfer signals play a vital role. If many rooms separate you from the router, the signals become weaker and weaker till they reach their destination making the speed of your internet connection slow. Always check for the router, its signal transmitting range, your distance, and everything related to it.
