The fact about building a team in Network Marketing is that most times, the people you think will build the business, end up not doing anything. And this is the challenge many people in Network Marketing have. Some of us find it easy to have people join our business but have difficulty getting them to build the business. So what do you do when you have lots of inactive partners? How do you motivate them to build their business? Here are a few tips that help me.

1. LEAD BY EXAMPLE: I don’t tell my team what to do. I show them what to do with what I do. Many leaders believe in having meetings and training every other week and there is nothing wrong with that as long as it will yield positive results in your team. After all the information sharing and acquisition, if they don’t implement, the knowledge is as good as nothing. Many people will implement what you do and not what you say. I tell my team to have their weekly business goal and work on at least 2 new partners every week, and they see me every other week, posting and sharing content on social media and engaging with people. And when they see me do that, it motivates them to do theirs.

2. INCENTIVES: This is something I discovered that works well within my team. Regardless of the incentives given by my company for attaining certain ranks and qualifications, I also give smaller incentives to the team to motivate them to reach a certain goal.

3. BRAINSTORMING: because I am not crazy about weekly meetings, I also understand the importance of the meeting. For me, I prefer calling a once-a-month brainstorming session. When we come together to access our business Strategies, note what’s working and what we will keep in the fridge for the time being. Because it’s a once-a-month event, everyone who really wants to there plan for it. We also use this period to discuss goals for the team and for us as individuals.

4. RECOGNITION: I do a rank change in celebration and recognition for my team members. I also call out over the weekend, those who performed well during the week. I recognize their efforts. I use their pictures for a team member shout-out. This makes them feel good and important. Everyone loves being celebrated and recognized. So I take the time to do so for my team.

It boils down to leadership and expectations. Don’t expect every member of your team to do what you do and how you do it. But when they inactive ones see that you are pushing your business and you are consistent, they will follow you if they really want to build their business.
