Gone

The morning star reminds me it’s time to go,
waking from the distant East, the glory of dawn,
I wish it would delay a moment longer,
to let me say goodbye a final time,
before time and space put us asunder.

The night was long, yet I wish it were longer
we tried, tried our all
but dead love cannot be revived,

We should depart now from this place of drought
walk, dawn’s light is out
find your path, you have the day for guide
I’ll wait here a moment, pay tribute to the fallen
when love dies, does it go to heaven?
