To Miss Someone

To miss someone

is more than just wishing they were still around.

It’s sending bits of you out, like a beacon,

like a homing pigeon,

hoping they will find them

and give them a smile

they might not know

where it came from.

When you miss someone,

you open the picture book in your head

and leaf through each moment,

each smile, each tear, each hug.

To miss someone

is to live to see them again,

or to see them living well,

living with a smile, living well,

living.

To miss someone

is to prepare your soul

to be un-incomplete once again.

When you miss someone,

you show the love you are ready to give.
