From Silvia to Nuphap

Hi Nuphap!
How is it your Christmas time? What do you saw over Florence?
Mine time was good at home, some rest and push out bad things!
Time to restart.
Anyway!

I love our format of poem!
And also our single chapters! I think it’s usefull if we use riso printing for select page and illustration so the process isn’t expensive!
In this way we can use more risograph for designing interesting overlay!
I like the A6 format and the thickness of the chapter!
I’m wait to see all book!

→ In our last meeting with Stefano I brought with me GRAM#3 : 314 grams of excess. A wonderful discovery!

I met one of the founders, Tobia few weeks ago.
He gave to me a copy in person. This was super cool because i knew also Tobia and all the project!

Gram is: is a collective of self-publishing born in Bolzano in 2014. Its field of interest ranges from photography, graphic design and arts to literature.
Here a Instagram profile.

The GRAM#3 is a red shining bubble envelope with 20 envelope with inside fanzine, little book, A4 with stories, photography.
It’a a continuos surprise in each envelope!
I find GRAM by social network! They are active only in social media.
> We yet understood, the importance of the network!

Distribution
Some days ago, i talked quickly with Bianca our Tutor from the course of Content Design e Strategy of Relational Design Master.
She suggest to me to have a research about the famous distributors of independent publishing. Also to see how they doing social media and stuff.

From my favorite magazine Mousse i find that:

This open to me a new world!
The best distributor that works well with our idea is:
> Anagram books: new distribution company based between London and Berlin.
> Idea Books: is a specialist wholesaler and distributor of books, exhibition catalogues, and DVDs on contemporary architecture, art, photography, design, fashion, and film.
> Motto Distribution: as a distribution company for Switzerland, specializing in magazines and fanzines, a service which hardly existed before on the Swiss territory. In Italy have two point:
- cura magazine / Rome
- bruno / Venice
> Buchhandlung Walther König: works more in Germany.
> ArtBook: Distributed Art Publishers in USA.
> Antenne Books: is a distributor for independent publishers. Established in London in 2010, Antenne Books distributes publications on art, photography, design, illustration, theory, writing, fashion and culture.

Their sell in some selected bookshop in the world but also sell online!
Maybe our perfect steps are:
- Try to sell by social media / that suggested Stefano.
- Put a specific e-commerce on our website
- Find a online marketplace that have a category “publishing”.

I add a new way: by Subscription?
Delivery?

I think that subscription help us with the number of copies need to product!
You remember Stack magazine?
I find also:
- http://www.flowmagazine.com/product-category/subscription
- http://www.wired.co.uk/subscribe/

In Italy was famous this type of “subscription” seller:

Postalmarket: Italian company, the national leader in the sale for correspondence. They sell everything!

Euroclub: sell book by subscription — i don’t remember if you can choose before or not!
I remember that my mum subscription of this service and first moment was good, but the system doesn’t work well!
They doing to you a contract that you need to cancel with 3 month notice.

Anyway this services are older but are a good benchmark!

In that case the people don’t touch the book before that they recived!
Maybe our target need to see the quality before!
What do you think?

Ok! Go to dinner!
Have a nice time!

Silvia
