A Brewers Festival, Stand Up, and Rooftop Parties Galore

There‘s plenty to do this weekend so we don’t want any excuses

It comes as no surprise that NYC is relatively exhausting to live in. For those of you who still have energy after a week’s worth of adulting, then I recommend you fit these gigs into your calendar. Haven’t gone out in a while? Perfect. Start off with a beer festival and work your way up to a night of dancing on the Monarch rooftop, with a stunning view of the Empire State building. Aren’t in the mood to socialize? Fine. Hit up a comedy show and listen to how better off you are than a Brooklyn-based comedian still telling the same jokes from 2011. We are getting you out of the house this weekend, got it?

Sometimes you just need a good night of dancing to forget about the troubles of the week. Get loose on the dance floor while looking up at the Empire State Building this weekend at the Monarch Rooftop Bar. The dress code is no joke, so wear something to impress the doorman (we hear he knows the difference between genuine leather and pleather). No ticket or reservation required—just be ready to party.

Have you ever walked into a party and immediately thought, “Crap, I could be watching Friends and eating Chinese food”? Well, we promise this party won’t make you think that—at least not immediately. ICLUBNYC, a fittingly named nightlife promotion company, is hosting a free glow in the dark rooftop gig in celebration of, well, summer. Wear your most colorful garb—like that totally impractical neon tube dress you bought while thrifting—and get down to DJ Dubbs, a dude who loves EDM drops almost as much as Skrillex. Doors open at 10 pm and the bar is unlimited until 11 pm. So, will we see you sporting a glow up bracelet this weekend?

Celebrate NYC’s first polo match and craft brewers festival on Governor’s Island this weekend. Besides tons of beer, the first Victory Cup—one of the fastest growing equestrian events in the States—will be held with the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty keeping score. Purchase your day pass so you can enjoy the many restaurants, spirits, and tastings before it’s too late. Wear your cleanest polo tee and maybe lay off the heavy beers—you're gonna need the extra room.

Broadway Comedy Club Show

Ever seen a comedy show in the city? It’s almost a right of passage to endure a comedy show in the city, no matter how funny or unfunny the material. It’s an authentic NYC experience, one punctuated by the overwhelming sense you feel for having decided upon a liberal science major, instead of performance arts. Luckily, you’re in for a round of genuine laughs if you happen to attend the show at Broadway Comedy Club. It’s a free show, so if along the way you realize there’s no talent whatsoever (which is highly unlikely), you get to leave the club with the same amount of money you arrived with, albeit, a stronger sense of pessimism—depending on the comedic vibes of the night. Be sure to reserve your seats!
