Maybe fame is a little more nebulous than we’ve all assumed. In this exclusive video premeire of the single “Famous” off their debut album I’m Not Getting Any Taller, Daisy the Great explores the idea of fleeting fame and holding onto the little things in life. As frontwomen Mina Walker and Kelley Nicole Dugan explain:

The ‘Famous’ music video is a window into the sentiment of Daisy the Great’s debut album I’m Not Getting Any Taller. Everybody wants something in life that is bigger than what they have now; even when we are happy, we still feel discontent because we long for something fulfilling and unequivocal. The pursuit of greatness can make anyone shortsighted — for us, this grand achievement is essentially to make music forever — and we use the word ’famous’ as a qualifier of that goal — but realistically, we don’t really know what fame looks like or feels like in practice. This song serves to remind us that the little things, although seemingly less important on the way to one’s lifelong objectives, actually comprise the biggest part of what makes us who we are: i.e., the gumball ring we can’t get rid of. If we focus on the present moment and keep doing what we love, it becomes so clear that there is joy everywhere we look.
