A big change is coming to New Stand, though the environment will definitely notice more of a difference than you might. From now on—drumroll please—all the paper and plasticware on New Stand ferries will be both biodegradable and compostable. This means that not only will the cups, lids, straws, and napkins be able to break down and return to nature, but they provide the earth with nutrients once they’re completely broken down.

You can think of your garbage as vitamins for the soil.

It’s a double win. Our planet will be far happier that single-use plastics aren’t piling up in unsightly landfills, and you can sip guilt-free on your iced coffee through a straw, knowing that the components will all be recycled or returned to the earth. Our World Centric cups will be made from NatureWorks Ingeo, a plastic-like material made from plants grown in the United States. And if you often forget to grab a cup sleeve and only realize when your fingers are burning, their double-walled cup makes sure this doesn’t happen — while saving some more paper!

New Stand is deeply committed to doing everything we can to minimize our footprint on the environment — there are some big shoes that we don’t want to fill. And we’re keeping our footprint small by ensuring that the materials we provide to you are anything but harmful for the earth.

We’re not stopping here though. By the end of the summer, all New Stand water will be sold in biodegradable bottles (!!!). So even if you’ve left your reusable water bottle at home, you can stay hydrated and maintain your eco-friendly, peace of mind with a bottle from one of our stands.

So let’s raise a biodegradable cup to New Stand’s mission to help preserve the planet, one reusable product at a time.
