Well, might as well all pack up our costumes and go home, because there’s no way we can top graphic artist Ken Tanabe’s insane outfits. Every year since 2003, Ken has come up with increasingly wacky, increasingly impressive minimalist costumes on the measliest of budgets. He’s been doing this by adhering to his six Halloween Rules, and the results have been trippy full-body outfits made from the simplest of materials. This Year’s ‘Shining Circles’ finds the beauty of nature emerging from technology.

I think that’s enough from me now, I’m going to let Ken’s costumes do the talking, because there’s no way my words can do them justice.

Halloween 2017: Shining Circles
Halloween 2016: Green Engineer
Halloween 2015: Chrome Cloud
Halloween 2014: Yellow Sovereign
Halloween 2013: Pink Wings
Halloween 2012: Death of Discs

Want to tackle Halloween like a pro? Well just follow Ken’s rules:

Rule 1: Make it yourself.

Rule 2: Use your whole body.

Rule 3: Keep it cheap.

Rule 4: Don’t rely on recognition.

Rule 5: Don’t rely on sex.

Rule 6: Don’t rely on horror.
