Maybe you’re looking for first date ideas or you want some inspiration on new spots to take your S.O. Luckily, Downtown Brooklyn puts you right in the middle of the action. It’s a hub for all things food, drink, and culture—so why not take your date out nearby? Whether you’re looking for a fancy night out or a lowkey meet-up, there’s something for everyone.

Brooklyn Academy of Music

The Brooklyn Academy of Music, or BAM, is an arts venue that puts on a ton of different programs year round. Events include everything from live opera to films to art installations. Take your date to a classic movie any night of the week or plan ahead of time and get tickets to a live event. You’ll look sophisticated for knowing about the season’s line-up, and both you and your date will be able to find something to enjoy there.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

You’ve probably seen the city skyline countless times before, but taking your sweetie to Brooklyn Bridge Park at sunset makes the view extra special. Walk along the water or grab a bench and take in the scenery. If you’re feeling peckish, grab a snack or a meal at one of the eateries nearby. Grimaldi’s is always a classic, and the TimeOut Market features a curated selection of restaurants and local breweries.

Grab a drink (and an appetizer)

Maybe it’s a first date or you’re meeting in the middle of the week and want to keep things lowkey. Downtown Brooklyn has a bar for any vibe in the area. If you’re coming straight from work, meet your date at Grand Army for rotating cocktails and one dollar oysters during happy hour. If you’re waiting around for your dinner table, pop into Olea in Fort Greene for happy hour. They’ve got a cute garden vibe and good deals on drinks and tapas.

Fort Greene Park

Sometimes the best date is just taking a long walk with your crush. Make your way to the top of the hill in Fort Green Park and get a glimpse of the skyline through the trees. In the fall, it’s the perfect spot to take in the changing foliage. There’s also plenty of benches if you want to take a break, and walking paths go all the way around the park to give you time to meander and chat.
