I’ve been working on a Writer’s Workbook Journal for about two months. I was inspired by the first meeting The Oracle Africa Writers’ Club held, where we discussed why we write and whether we would still write if external validation fell away.

So I thought it’d be nice to have a bunch of prompts that would assist writers in discovering why they write, because doing things with intention helps you discover what to focus on and what not to focus on; what to give your energy to and what to ignore. Then I thought, why not make this a journal?

As I began drafting the journal, more ideas came in — as they usually do when you start working on something — and I decided it should go beyond discovering your intention behind writing.

It should also help you discover your wildest writing dreams, your struggles as a writer, as well as specific actions to take to reach these dreams and how to engage with your struggles in healthier ways. Additionally, I included affirmations for writers and a guide to creating your affirmations tailored to you.

I created this journal so that you can fill it in at your own pace and in your own space. The entire purpose is to figure out what works for YOU by uncovering all the jumbled-up thoughts in your mind and untangling them as you write.

I put a lot of thought, time, and energy into this. I hope it will give clarity and focus to writers in need of them and that it will uncover intentions, desires, and actions that will help them make the most out of their writing journey and enjoy the process.
