An informal survey presents the gap between computer and medical doctors and biologists

--

I have been for the last 6 years dedicating my academic life to scientific spreading of biomathematics. Officially, it started in 2014, when I created a YouTube channel dedicated to biomathematics; I have also created several blogs, the main is here. At the time, I invited some people, prof Maggio (University of L’Aquila) in special answered me call; I also gave a series of talks to the Thursday Morning Science, in special about Matlab for medical doctors and biologists. This was the starting of the current YouTube channel I have about biomathematics, the ebook I am writing and the Udemy courses I am launching. During this walk, I always knew that there was a gab between medical doctors and biologists (life scientists from now on), and computer science, that was the rationale behind my endeavor: assisting on this contamination.

Recently, I came accross a tweet

Tweet talking about the gab between computer scientists and life scientists

All this evidences brought me to review a talk I gave to Thursday Morning Science some months ago.

My audience: mainly medical doctors

Audience of my course about user-friendly interfaces for computational biology

The majority of the life scientists do not use computer based solutions: this is a huge opportunity for scientific growth!

Survey result showing that the majority of the life scientists on my talk did not use software on their research

Software not user-friendly: hard to use and interface with

Result showing that the majority of life scientists on my talk had difficults with their softwares

Disclaimer. this survey was informal, not properly planned, and not peer-reviewed. It is ideal for initiating more serious researches! Be my guest!💪

Excerpt from my conversation with Jonathan Karr. We talk extensevely about software in computational biology
Excerpt from my talk the TMS, wherein I pin down the importance of innovation with models
Question during TMS regarding what is a user-friendly interface, from a life scientist standpoint
