I wish I knew what this meant. Having gone through it twice I’m left with the impression that Congress is screwed up and can only agree on one tree at which to bark. Notice that I said bark at a tree and not up it. There is no clear indication of what might be up the Russian tree that warrants a bunch of old dogs to bark. Other than Putin, of course, as it is his tree. Now if Trump were up that tree it would be another thing entirely but that would make too much sense. That’s the problem.

This whole thing is so totally screwed up that the kind of off-the-cuff efforts to create a new cold war with Russia without regard to risk makes me feel as if we are all collateral damage in the making. That’s depressing. We’ll all be killed for no apparent reason other than a bunch of old dogs needing to bark at something because they don’t know what else to do. The fact that Trump is so badly compromised by Russian interests just adds to the confusion. And that is the hidden agenda, I think.

The old dogs bark at the Russian tree and so, indirectly, at Putin whom everyone loves to hate and also indirectly at Trump who took way too many trips around that tree gathering rubles. But barking is as strenuous as these folks care to get. Let’s hope no one else gets involved in this or we will never figure it out.
