To cut to the end, what you discussed with the moon is not trite. In my experience discussions with the moon or other celestial bodies are rarely trite. And the word itself is not trite. Things so described are usually things that should be obvious and are, in fact obvious, but are considered safe to ignore. This is a sophisticated human language trick used to avoid a very uncomfortable reality. We dismiss the entire issue without addressing it as it is somehow beneath us and we don’t need to waste time on such trivia.

Our entire political system (and I do not mean our government that actually works very well, is absolutely critical to our existence, and must expand all services to all people) has become trite. It has managed to dismiss every, basic human social obligation as trite. We don’t need to worry about that. The ruling class has reduced itself to idiocy at a level that they can pander to a mentally defective, idiot as their ruler. The only obligation left is whatever can be done to collect huge piles of cash in order to continue to protect the huge piles of cash on which they feed. Paul Ryan and his ilk are now parasitic to the point that they produce nothing. Their brains have atrophied and they only feed. Human existence is now trite to them. They only feed.
