We need to add post-socialist to post-capitalist and post-nation state. None of these mean the disappearance of shared governance, market economics or management of human societies. They mean a different set of values, tools and goals in the post-industrial age just as that means robotic takeover of industrial production. One things missing in this article is the nature of governance in the AI world and that will be AI as managers of human society. Government workers are a very large part of all modern societies and the political posturing on small government is, itself, an oxymoron. Those jobs will be automated also and the sooner the better. The arguments against socialist systems is the inefficiency and corruption of government but those are not the problems of “government” . They are the problems of people failing to be rational, data driven and unemotional. Demagoguery is the drive of emotions and irrationality by emotional people. We will soon be able to bypass that and rationalize administration while allowing people to apply mindfulness and compassion when it is needed avoiding anger and emotion when it is not.
