How to Listen to Audio Books, Watch Movies & Learn New Languages or Skills, all for FREE, LEGALLY !

We are all used to the idea of paying for education and entertainment. Good things in life rarely come for free.
However, modern technology is helping us along with some of those things, specifically, digital goods and services.

Historically, if one needed to learn a topic in great detail, one would have had to trod along to the nearest local library, and pray that a good book for the subject under consideration be available at that time. If not available, one could alternatively walk over to the nearest book store and BUY that same book (if available for purchase!)

Local Library as a Source of Information & Entertainment — INFOTAINMENT

In our modern context of technological advancement , such limitations are easily mitigated. Can there truly be a limit on the ‘number of ebooks’ that can be lent out by a digital source, outside of artificial limits built in by the author/publisher? Not at all! The size of an Ebook (a few Megabytes at most ) is a tiny fraction of an average 2 minute YouTube video clip (a few tens of Megabytes ) and it is only the respect for the author’s Intellectual Property that limits the number of ebooks that can be rented out (author’s IP rightfully respected through financial support by the library buying a desired number of digital licenses)

All is not lost. With the right basic access established, one can easily get AUDIO-BOOKS, PRINT & DIGITAL MAGAZINES, MOVIES as well as PROFESSIONAL COURSES for learning fully free (with few limits or restrictions)

Here’s what you’ll need :-

1) A Public Library Card (County Library Card or City Library Card — I have a Cincinnati & Hamilton County Library Card, for example)

Who can get a library card?
Library cards are free to anyone who meets any of the following criteria:

  • Are a resident of the State of Ohio or a property owner in Hamilton County
  • You are associated with a member of an Ohio regional library system as a cardholder from a member library
  • Are a staff member of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County
  • You are a temporary/transitional resident of Hamilton County

2) Visit the Library’s Online Digital Section for Ebooks & AudioBooks (limited # of rentals)
