PhD students, Leyla Fouani and Daisy Shu interviewed Dame Athene Donald, an esteemed Physics Professor from Cambridge University during her from visit to Sydney from the UK for the University of Sydney SAGE Gender Equality Lecture.

It is not uncommon to walk the halls of university buildings to find statues and oil paintings of famous male scientists throughout history. Indeed, scientists are stereotypically pictured as old, grey-bearded males in lab coats. However, the times, they are a’changing and many female scientists are now are the very forefront of cutting edge research. This podcast episode highlights some key issues affecting women in the scientific community from work-life balance to raising a family, the gender-pay gap and career progression.
