Rivalry
Rivalry
Yeah, I know how it is to have rivals
Today I tried reading some of my poetry to two people at the church
Thought they were my friends
But they looked at me like I was a kid
Felt almost mad embarrassed
They barely paid attention
My knowledge to others seems futile
I went from wanting to share poems
To hating reading them aloud to some people
This is art
I worked really hard on it
Not just so you can roll your eyes
It is okay
I guess I needed to be humbled
Now about this topic
Let us look at rivals
What are rivals
Siblings
Cousins
Exs
If you even had any
Colleagues
Yuri
Alex
Palmer
Mark who echos
or BPS
Nah, I guess not
Because either way
You do what you are meant to do
Rivals
You know how it is
And what it is
Rivals are the name of the game
Since the day I was born
It felt like I was meant to be rejected
Me and the devil are rivals
He knows what is coming to him
I got things to do
Distracted
Lots of times I only see my faults
I even am not a fan of my voice sometimes
Or things I can’t change
Why am I so hyper
Wasn’t I talking earlier today about self-control
Okay
Well, you know
These words are coming out like a river that flows
When I don’t notice my faults, I seem to notice something different
I seem distracted by roadblocks
Pitfalls
I see hazard and danger
Or lack of validation
Wanting attention
And I get a reaction
Control your emotions
You know, I heard Steve Job’s speech
He said, “Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die to get there”
You might think, “how can somebody so secular inspire me”
Did you see the age of innovation
Now look what ego drives
Remember Architecture
Remember when art was art
We would leave the art to the artist
And poets were inspirational
Well, I guess these days seem over
Rivals
You are rivaling yourself
Your mind and imagery
But you got this
The war with yourself is an internal war
And an internal struggle
But you must prevail
You got this
Rivals
