Hopefully, you’ve seen one of our Take Action widgets on a news story (or several), and used it to make a difference in the story you were reading.

Our original take action tool was the Take Action button:

Did you know that the button is named Jane? It’s true! We named it after Nobel Peace Prize winner Jane Addams.

As our first product, it was the start of a new and important direction for us and our media partners, and we wanted to give it a name that reflected how fundamental it is to everything we do.

Jane Addams — Chicagoan, activist, feminist, winner of the 1931 Nobel Peace Prize — is the perfect namesake. In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History month, here are a few resources to learn more about Jane Addams and how she made a difference.

But don’t just read about it, take action (see what we did there?) — honor International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month by supporting great organizations working for women’s equality around the world!
