I get it, it’s election season. A time for bitter partisanship and blocking High School friends on Facebook. In that spirit I know it’s more easy way out than high road to celebrate both teams in the World Series, but that’s exactly what the Public Good is all about. Intricate high fives and long lines of players saying ‘Good game, good game, good game…’ go to both organizations for giving back to their respective communities in a big way.

The Chicago Cubs have partnered with and actively advocate for some of the city’s most effective organizations in an effort to increase the opportunities for the city’s at risk youth to participate in sports, advance their education and lead healthier lives. Visit the Cubs Charities page to join the community, learn more about specific programs like Cubs Scholars and the Diamond Project or make a donation today and leverage this moment to turn your love for the Cubbies into a better Chicago. … And not for nothing but as our partners at WGN point out, there’s just a little bit of a sense of destiny floating around Chicago these days.

The Cleveland Indians Charities (CIC) likewise have been supporting the youth of Northeast Ohio since 1989. The CIC’s partnerships include a creative mix of programs focused on teaching life skills to the area’s youth including opportunities to learn the game of baseball. Their efforts have resulted in more than $10 million dollars being donated to youth oriented agencies in the area, but course, there is always more to do and more kids to reach. Visit the CIC page to join the community, donate or just learn more about their mission.

We don’t believe in curses here at the Public Good, but we do believe in karma. Good karma. Congrats to both teams, both cities and all the fans … now get out there and make a difference!

ps: But seriously, our Community Manager Kelli would kill me if I didn’t take this chance to say #flytheW!
