Some people say when your heart breaks, it feels like you’ve lost someone.

You might turn to share something with someone, only to hurt when they’re no longer there.

An opportunity for an inside joke comes up, and you wish they were there to share it.

But sometimes hearts break in other ways.

Sometimes it’s not as sudden. It’s turning away when someone turns toward you. It’s feeling distant from someone even when you’re in the same room.

For me, it’s listening to Ocean Eyes and thinking about how the song’s meaning has changed.

When things like this happen, music and quotes can take on a different meaning.

To leave everything you’ve known and cared about for the unknown — quite frankly it’s scary as shit.

But to keep reaching and trying and striving — really, that’s all you can do.

A friend of mine called me inspiring. I think I’m just figuring things out.

In my own way, at my own pace, on my own terms.

I’ve met so many people recently and have really put myself out there.

Sometimes I feel rejected.

Other days I feel so loved and warm.
