Therapists in Tech 2022 Projects
Below is information on two projects on the TnT 2022 Roadmap: The Transparency Project and Clinician-Friendly Hackathon
- Transparency Project
Project Goal: “The goal of this project is to create a trustworthy database where clinicians can compare clinical roles, compensation, benefits, promotion and career development opportunities, use of technology as it relates to clinical care, and cultural factors across companies to better inform their employment decisions. More broadly, this project also aims to put pressure on companies to improve the clinician experience and place a higher value on the clinical voice and ultimately quality patient care.”We plan to collect information directly from HR / People Ops teams, as well as from therapists working at these organizations. Our goal is to administer the HR and therapist surveys this fall (October), and to publish the data by end of year.

2. Clinician-Friendly Hackathon
Problem statement: After attending past TnT events and reading feedback from members, our leadership team has learned that clinicians sometimes struggle to transfer their skills to nonclinical roles at mental/behavioral health startups. Many aren’t able to obtain offers to have an initial interview because their resumes are clinically-focused. In addition, they aren’t prepared to answer questions outside of a clinical lenses such as focusing on business strategy, analytics, project management etc. Many students/people pivoting into tech are encouraged to create their own projects to showcase their abilities. This includes tackling case studies or taking the initiative to fix a problem on their own. However, we clinicians may not have the knowledge about how to do this.
Our solution: TnT will host a “clinician-friendly” hackathon. This event will help our members to think critically and create a project proposal on their own. Our hackathon will be nontraditional as we do not have engineers, product managers, designers, to create a full-fledged prototype. Our goal is instead to give members a glimpse into a startup environment and gain insight into what skills companies are looking for. Please stay tuned for further information on how you can become involved.
