PRESIDENCY, n. The greased pig in the field game of American politics.

- from The Devil’s Dictionary

If there’s one good thing that will come out of Trump’s presidency, it’s that EVERYONE follows politics now. On a related note, games about contemporary elections are more numerous than ever. So play them!

Campaign Trail

Area control game. 2 to 6 players. There’s also Solo and a Co-Op mode against an AI player. Players represent political archetypes: The Populist, The Genius, etc. It simulates the operational level, so candidates have to actually travel from state to state. Whoever ends up with the most electoral college delegates wins.

Decent art and components. The board and cards are fairly busy with information, mainly because they reflect each state’s Debate Issues. Lasts an hour and a half to 2 hours, so it can overstay its welcome. But if you like watching Steve Kornacki play with the big board on MSNBC, this may be your game.
