We all know situations where we just cannot accept, believe, condone or tolerate something or someone. We all believe to be right to feel like we do in those situations and I tell you what — you are right and you have every right to feel the way you do. “Good!”, you might think, but what’s the point of this article then?
Have you ever asked yourself what you are achieving let alone if you are achieving anything by feeling this way in certain situations? I believe you are achieving an awful lot! You are building up a massive amount of resistance. Resistance to what though? Resistance to what IS of course! You’re resisting something that already is or worse, something that is already in the past.
The more you live your life like this the more resistance will build up and all the opinions and viewpoints you are having will eventually lead you to create a huge maze of beliefs and concepts about life that are far away from life itself.
Resistance is also very expensive. It costs you a lot of energy. You need a lot of energy to keep being against something that cannot be changed anymore. Most of us live our lives like this. We run on autopilot when it comes to taking sides, having opinions, reacting and being “against” something.
You might want to try the following exercise once in awhile to help you relax and put some perspective into the world of tension and resistance around you. Consciously try to relax your facial muscles. This can be done anywhere and anytime. It doesn’t require any preparation. Just sit, stand or lie down and focus on taking all the tension out of your face. You will be amazed at how much you can relax your face and more so how insignificant all those opinions become and with a bit of luck you will even be able to laugh about yourself and all your resiSTANCE.
