Thoughts behind breaking into a new platform…

About

As a company, THE RISE COLLECTION was founded with a focus on mobile app development which leads to an explosion of our mobile games portfolio specifically.

Game development has always been something I enjoy and prefer as a creative escape.

This app icon represents the first game published in our portfolio. This is AOTC, developed with Game Salad. That editor provided amazing easy-to-follow development tools that came in the form of snap-coding... I recommend Game Salad to anyone just starting off with little to no development experience.

AOTC demonstrates the simple arcade-style gameplay mobile users seem to know and LOVE… The question is can the same gameplay styles/setup transfer over to a bigger platform like steam successfully?

Action

The next platform we plan to target is Steam! All of the aspects of game development learned through our mobile platforms will be incorporated into the push towards Steam… The question is, would that approach be correct or does steam need to be thought of us a separated entity completely with no similarities between the two user-bases.

Example: Product Pages

Mobile product pages seem to have quite a simple format in-comparison to the steam product pages…

Steam product pages support more options for images and overall representation of your product… Does this UI difference help your product “pop-out” to the users scrolling through the store?

When

Throughout this article, we hoped to drive one main point… do your research before breaking into a new platform. Every platform is created for a different type of user, learn how to adapt and serve new customers!

Tweet us and tell us about your favorite game.
