Coding should not be intimidating . Get the stereotypical programmer out of your head. It is easier than most people think!

All most all the professions in the world today seem to require a degree of some sort. Lawyers go to law school, doctors need to study medicine but does software engineers need a degree at all? There are tens of sites and apps built around learning and coding today- more than ever.

Early days of computer development involved reading manuals and online blogs for guidance. There are now thousand of sites offering free courses. There are also tons of different coding communities offering support to developers who are stuck on their projects.

You can ask any question about any aspect of computers on stack overflow and coding. You will definitely get an answer. That is if the question was’t already asked. So mostly you don’t even need to wait for a reply.

It is not as hard as you think!

Programming languages are created by people for people. So with some patience and dedication almost everyone can learn.

Why it matters?

Learning to program can help us understand how computers work and how we can use them to our best interest. One can learn how to develop a basic program within months. The world of tomorrow is about technology and based on technology so even knowing the fundamentals helps.

How can you start learning?

If you are an absolute beginner and want to watch videos to understand the history and the underlying concepts I would recommend watching Crash Course Computer Science videos.

If you like games and cartoons if you are easily bored, you might give code.org a try. This is one of the friendliest ways to get introduced to coding. As it includes many motivational videos from influential people who support coding.

If want to learn the languages and get practice. Then codecademy might be right for you

This is the video of the pro version but the normal version has worked really well for me so far

There is also freecodecamp. They exceed at web design and web programming. It is an great site that can teach anyone. The site has a very inclusive web course. At the end they give you a certificate and will even help you with your job interviews. Above all that, it is also open source meaning that it is completely free and you can even look at the code of the website that you are learning from and even contribute to the project after you learn.

This is their YouTube channel.

So go out there!

These are some of the sites that I have used so far. There are many more out there and many more will come. Remember, everyone can learn to code and if you learn, it will be useful for you. So if you decide to learn coding, remember, the sources are out there and people are willing to help you learn!
