Caged Bird No More

They see you take flight
And witness great danger
Wings unclipped kiss breeze
Caged bird shackled no more
In the black mirror
They see a stranger
One with hateful eyes
One with twisted jaw
They wear black feathers
Plucked from your back
They adorn your struggle
Your tears a refreshment
A fearful trill creeps
A shrill chorus bellows
Of juvenile they stow
Feet raveled in wire
The tune of freedom
Unravels from your throat
The warm breeze carries
Glad tidings to kin
Caged bird no more
Caged bird no more
Caged bird no more
Caged bird no more
