An Advent Playlist

If you are looking for a quick way for your church to connect with folks over the advent season, consider putting together a playlist.

People LOVE the music of this season. The best part? There are an eclectic gathering of artists who have covered Advent/Christmas songs. Our Advent playlist this year at Narrative Church covers everything from classic choral recordings to the Civil Wars and Sufjan Stevens.

There are a couple ways you can do this.

Put together a grab and go list.

Warm up your typing fingers and pull out that cardstock. Print off a list of songs and artists you recommend for this season. Put this list at your welcome or connection center, encourage people to grab one as they head out from worhsip.

This is a simple solution and the most basic. But it allows your people to get music at their speed. Maybe they are still listening to CDs or they have a subscription to YouTube music. No matter how they listen to their music they can have a good way of looking up some music for the season.

A Pre/Post Worship Playlist

This is simple. Load the playlist onto your sound system pre or post worship (or both). Put a note in your printed worship order or on the screens to let people know you are playing songs of advent.

Make a Spotify Playlist

I’ve saved the best for last. Spotify is what I have been wanting all my life and I didn’t know it until it came along several years ago.

You can put together a playlist on Spotify and share the link or embed it in your emails/website.

Please note that if you or your people don’t have Spotify premium there will be advertisements.

Maybe you use one or all three of these methods, but have some fun and share some music this advent season!
