US Open Cup: El Paso, Laredo move on

The Laredo Heat and the El Paso Patriots both were victorious in their 1st round US Cup draw respectively.

Laredo Heat (PDL) 4, ASC New Stars (USASA) 2 (OT)

Second-half substitution Placide Buduri scored two overtime goals to carry the Heat past the ASC New Stars at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas.

El Paso Patriots (PDL) 3, NTX Rayados (USASA) 1

Naoyas Aizawa scored two El Paso goals and assisted what proved to be the game-winner by Michael Griego to defeat NTX Rayados at Patriots Stadium in El Paso, Texas.

The contest sees both PDL sides move into the second round of the tournament. The second round will take place Tuesday, May 22nd.

The Laredo Heat will take on the SA Scorpions FC (NASL) at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio, Texas at 7:30 p.m. CT

The El Paso Patriots will take on the Charlotte Eagles (USL-PRO) at Patriots Stadium in El Paso, Texas at 8:00 p.m. MT
