Stripes Literary Magazine curates a list of places to submit every month. The list contains links to enable further research and short description of each open call to help creatives choose according to their strengths and preference.

SUNLIGHT PRESS CONTEST

This spring, Sunlight Press is delighted to offer a writing contest for creative nonfiction of 1,000 words or less. Please submit your previously unpublished personal essay. Submissions will close when we get 200 entries, or on deadline date, whichever comes first.

We believe there is beauty in scars on smooth skin, in the small fissures where things begin to break apart. Sundogs are not the sun itself but phantom stars appearing on the horizon, illusions produced by the play of the sun’s heat with crystals of ice. ARSENAL PULP: New Literary Anthology on the Fibre Arts

We are currently seeking submissions for a yet-to-be-named literary essay anthology that examines our deep and complex relationship with the fibre arts.

Editors Marita Dachsel and Nancy Lee are looking for essays (approx. 2,000 to 5,000 words) that engage fibre arts practice as a lens (positive or negative) through which to examine larger contemporary issues: identity, technology, climate change, personal struggle, politics, family, adventure, relationship, art, science, or any other complexities of life.
