What to expect from the 15th edition of the Startup DAYs

If you are an entrepreneur with the fire in the belly, an investor looking for new opportunities or a startup looking for partnerships, you simply cannot miss the 15th edition of the Startup DAYs hosted in Berne on the 25th & 26th September 2018.

This event organized by Startup INVEST is one of the main networking events of the Swiss startup community.

During two intense days, the startup ecosystem of the whole country will meet and exchange opinions based on the 5 Tech Tracks showcased by the organizers:

  1. Autonomous Systems
  2. Healthtech
  3. Sustainable Tech
  4. Fintech
  5. Content & Channels

Still not convinced? Check out the program!

The visitors of the event will be able to assist to keynotes & panels with experts from law firms, corporates, accelerators, venture capital, and successful startups. We are particularly looking forward to the FEMALE FOUNDERS and STARTUPS talks on Day 1.

The first day will also be the opportunity to take part in masterclasses given by industry experts and to book 1:1 meetings between startups and investors.

The second day will be the moment to meet Supporters & Corporates at their booths and use this new set of business cards you just ordered. People will also be able to participate in workshops given by P&TS, IP Filing Strategies for Startups, and Zühlke, From a Prototype to an Industrial Product.

Funny element, the second day is also the opportunity to hear investors pitch for 60 seconds in front of the crowd.
Let’s see if investors are as good at pitching as entrepreneurs.

Which brings us to one of the most exciting elements of the event:

The Pitching Battle

  • 200 Startups
  • 25 Countries
  • 100'000 CHF prize money

Yes, it is going to be huge.

Qualifications and semifinals will run along the 5 Tech Tracks. The big final will take place before the closing ceremony on Day 2.

Three questions to Jean-Pierre Vuilleumier, Director of the Startup Days

How is this 15th edition going to be so special?

For the first time, we are global, more than 20 countries on stage, 200 startups in the pitching battle, CHF 50K for the winner, great keynotes, e.g. Peter Diamandis, Singularity University (silicon valley) and also great panels and the Federal Council Schneider-Ammann.

Could you name a distinguishing characteristic of the Swiss startup scene?

After 15 years quite developed, but the mentality has evolved in a strange way, “it is cool to be an entrepreneur”. No, it is not cool, it is really hard. The zero mistake culture here, failure is not an option, we must change it!

What is missing in Switzerland to better support the startup ecosystem?

Fewer events, better content at events, most events are for free, so where is the value?
