Pre-Elite Edge Node Launches with TFUEL Staking as a Preview to Mainnet 3.0
The Theta Edge Node already lets users broadcast and watch fully decentralized livestream video over the Theta Edge Network, and earn TFUEL tokens for sharing resources via the Edge Compute and Edge Cacher functions. Now we are adding the “Pre-Elite Edge Node” (Pre-EEN) functionality that rewards even more TFUEL as a prelude to Mainnet 3.0 scheduled for April 21, 2021. The most significant enhancement to the Theta protocol yet is coming in Mainnet 3.0 where Elite Edge Nodes allow users to stake their TFUEL tokens. (For all the details on Mainnet 3.0, check the announcement blog here). The Pre-EEN feature is a preview of that change, allowing you to simulate staking TFUEL in the current Edge Node. This way, we can get feedback and the extent of TFUEL staking to expect come Mainnet 3.0 release, and you can earn some extra TFUEL along the way for the help.
The “Stake TFUEL” section in the lower-left panel is now available in your Theta Edge Node app.
Just enter your wallet address where your TFUEL is held and the amount of TFUEL you want to stake to get started. There is a minimum of 10,000 TFUEL and a maximum of 100,000 TFUEL you can stake. A total of 300k TFUEL per month will be distributed to users staking in the Pre-EEN feature, earned proportionally to your uptime and how much you are staking relative to all the TFUEL staked.
Every 10 minutes or so your staked TFUEL balance will be snapshotted to calculate your actual earnings. Pending TFUEL rewards are updated twice per day in the Edge Node app, and will be paid out each month alongside Edge Cacher and Edge Compute earnings. Your actual TFUEL reward will also depend on your uptime, which will serve as the basis for “Uptime mining” in Mainnet 3.0.
We encourage all TFUEL holders to stake to the Edge Node to help us plan for when Mainnet 3.0 launches.
