Simon Piazolo, founder and CEO of OpenTheta NFT marketplace, becomes Theta’s first Developer Advocate

We’re excited to announce that Simon Piazolo, founder and CEO of OpenTheta NFT marketplace, has become Theta’s first Developer Advocate! Simon will continue to run OpenTheta while helping Theta developers support their ecosystem projects.

Born in Frankfurt am Main Germany, Simon studied Electrical Engineering at the RWTH University Aachen and received his Bachelor of Science degree following his thesis on the Hyperledger private blockchain. After completing an internship at ZF Friedrichshafen in their AI Department, he founded OpenTheta, the first community-built peer-to-peer NFT marketplace on the Theta blockchain.

OpenTheta is home to ThetaPunks and many other NFT projects borne out of the Theta community. It has continuously been a source of innovation in the Theta ecosystem — for example, the first time Theta’s patented NFT DRM technology was displayed publicly was via a video stream hosted on OpenTheta!

As Developer Advocate, Simon will work with developers to integrate Theta applications, such as the Theta blockchain and Theta Video API, create code samples and demo apps that enable developer users, and help create documentation for Theta blockchain SDKs and APIs. As a liaison between the Theta Labs development team and Theta community developers, he will help bridge the gap for the ecosystem to work together building the next generation of Theta projects.
