Theta and KAIST AI Lab introduce AI Virtual Try-On for Shopify Plugin
We’re excited to announce the launch of AI Virtual Try-On for Shopify, a new AI-powered virtual try-on software for e-commerce applications. Developed in collaboration with KAIST AI Lab, South Korea’s top-ranked university AI research center, this technology leverages their expertise in computer vision and natural language processing to enhance the online shopping experience.
The AI Virtual Try-On plugin allows online customers to virtually “try on” a variety of tops, including shirts, jerseys, and blouses, by simply uploading a top-half selfie. This innovative solution aims to improve the online shopping experience and potentially increase sales conversions for e-commerce retailers.
To encourage widespread use, Theta Labs is offering the software as a free plugin for Shopify store owners for a limited time. The plugin has already been successfully integrated by beta customers Soar and Mazer for their Shopify stores.
Powered by Theta EdgeCloud
AI Virtual Try-On for Shopify is built on Theta EdgeCloud, our hybrid cloud-edge computing AI platform. This unique infrastructure combines over 30,000 distributed edge nodes from the Theta Edge Network with cloud partners like Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services, offering more than 80 PetaFLOPS of distributed GPU compute power.
By leveraging this distributed network, Theta EdgeCloud can offer significant cost savings compared to traditional cloud providers for GPU computing tasks. For AI model training and inference services, EdgeCloud provides these capabilities at less than half the cost of other cloud providers.
AI Virtual Try-On for Shopify represents a practical application of EdgeCloud technology in the e-commerce space. By leveraging Theta’s distributed network to power AI-driven virtual try-ons, its addressing real pain points for online retailers and shoppers alike. This launch is a step towards making advanced AI tools more accessible and cost-effective for businesses of all sizes.
The launch of AI Virtual Try-On marks a significant milestone in our ongoing collaboration with KAIST AI. Looking ahead, Theta Labs and KAIST AI are planning to expand the model to include more complex wearables, such as hats, bottoms, and other accessories. This GPU-intensive task will fully utilize Theta EdgeCloud’s cluster of advanced GPUs, pushing the boundaries of AI-driven fashion technology.
