Theta is off to a roaring 2025, with new advancements in Theta EdgeCloud and exciting new partners joining every week! From new AI models added like DeepSeek R1, to partnerships with top schools in U.S., Korea, and Singapore, it was a great start to the year. Let’s recap everything that happened in the last month.
EdgeCloud technical advances
January kicked off with a major upgrade for EdgeCloud, adding persistent storage, GPU node reconfiguration, and the ability to deploy GPU nodes w/ SSH access to run AI model training or any other computational tasks.
2025 Roadmap
Next was the release of Theta’s 2025 roadmap, highlight the upcoming releases of EdgeCloud hybrid architecture, AI agents on EdgeCloud, and extending TDROP utility to 3rd party marketplaces and AI use cases.
New EdgeCloud Customers
Then EdgeCloud adoption marched forward with three top academic customers joining the network:
Michigan State University and its Secure and Intelligent Things (SEIT) Lab
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) and its Speech and Language Laboratory
Hanyang University’s Electromagnetics & Intelligent Design Lab (EIDL)
Along with an integration by AlphaCrypto chatbot:
DeepSeek-R1 added to EdgeCloud
Lastly, EdgeCloud integrated the hyper-efficient DeepSeek-R1 AI model, allowing DeepSeek V3/R1 to maximize its cost-effectiveness, reduce latency, enhance scalability, and improve security — while offering a sustainable infrastructure to meet future growing demands of AI processing and training.
