BP Infrastructure

Performance

At the end of each month we report here about the monthly performance and status of The Teloscope Telos Block Producer. The data shown here is mainly sourced from two apps/tools: our own creation Chainspector, and Aloha BP Benchmarks.

Maximum speed reached (left) and current speed with the HW adjustment that we finally chose (right).

Finally after initial hiccups, this month many Telos BPs started upgrading their servers on main net to EOSIO 2.0. In our previous tests we saw that we could achieve very good performance. Now we can confirm that we were able to achieve a stable 0.1 ms figure. Without losing rounds or any other apparent issue. For your reference, and admitting that the network load and requirements are different, currently the best BP on EOS mainnet has never gone below 0.15ms.

However, since the Telos network does not currently demand such extreme speed, and in line with the settings recommended by EOSIO developers, we opted for adjusting the parameters of our infrastructure in a more conservative mode. In any case, that puts The Teloscope back as one of the top performers and the most consistent at it, since we have the lowest gap between the min and max execution time for the benchmark transaction.

This has been another fairly stable month for The Teloscope popularity. A few ups and downs let us end the month 8th in the ranking by votes.

Applications and Tools

Chainspector

Finally we’ve coded the first set of improvements needed to upgrade Chainspector to the new Telos Decide governance system. Now we are just on hold until the first worker proposals arrive under the new system, so we can fine-tune any raw edges that may arise.

Meanwhile here you have a preview of the new user interface:

As you can see we now show individual milestones, and also a worker proposal explorer, where you can see all its milestones.

Notice regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic:

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected around the world.

The Teloscope team remains active and our primary concern is for the safety and well-being of our staff and their families. In response to concerns around limiting the spread of coronavirus, we are working at home.

However, even if we cannot count on 100% of our capacity, we will do our best to keep our infrastructure operational, a normalcy in our communication with the Telos community, and to make progress on any pending works.

This report has been produced by members of The Teloscope team. You can also check previous weekly reports from The Teloscope.

The Teloscope is an independent non-profit block producer. The revenue we get from any service we provide to the network is fully invested in our BP infrastructure, as well as in tools and services for the community. Please visit our Code of Conduct to know more about these principles.

You can support us by including theteloscope among the list of BPs that deserve your vote.
