The Teloscope is based in Gijón, a coastal city in Northern Spain. The main beach is huge and the views across the bay are wonderful. It is at its peak in the summer months, specially in August.

So we encouraged all members of our team for finally taking a well-deserved holiday vacation. As a consequence, during the month of August we reduced our activity to the minimum needed to provide our Telos BP services. In addition, we also performed some singular tasks described right below.

BP Infrastructure

In anticipation for the upgrade to EOSIO v1.8 to (hopefully) take place later this month we have been testing EOSIO software Version 1.8.1 internally and also joined the new Testnet BOSHO as a producer. In the coming days we will be deploying an API node and test our tools on that environment.

Performance

At the end of each month we report here about the monthly performance and status of The Teloscope Telos Block Producer. The data shown here is mainly sourced from two apps/tools: our own creation Chainspector, and Aloha BP Benchmarks.

Throughout the month The Teloscope has been the Telos BP with the best median performance.

A series of unfortunate coincidences: the activation of REX, our server having a momentary issue that caused its unreg, while several top voters were casting their votes, made us have a sharp drop in the Telos BP ranking by votes. Anyway when those accounts vote again we expect The Teloscope goes up several positions.

Applications and Tools

The Teloscope Bot

We updated the Turkish version of the bot with some language corrections sent by İlker Çitikbel, the original translator that helped us. Kudos to you! ⭐️

Wildlife preservation project

Despite the summer season break, we are ready to announce our next big thing! 😃 For now we can just show you a teaser, but it won’t take long until more detailed info is widely shared.

This innovative research project aims to enhance monitoring systems used by wildlife preservation organisations. By joining forces with an environment consultancy firm, we created a new solution based on various technologies, such as artificial intelligence, IoT and blockchain, that automates and speeds up several key tasks usually performed by wildlife scientists.

We are very excited to start telling the blockchain community about it, as we believe that it is a very cool use case for the EOSIO technology.

Community

A member of The Teloscope team will represent us and our parent organization, CTIC, at the European Blockchain Convention in Barcelona, Spain, on 20–21 January 2020.

This announcement so far in advance is because only until this September 15 we can send you a 20% discount code to attend this paid event. Just get in touch with us and we’ll send it to you.

This report has been produced by members of The Teloscope team. You can also check previous weekly reports from The Teloscope.

The Teloscope is an independent non-profit block producer. The revenue we get from any service we provide to the network is fully invested in our BP infrastructure, as well as in tools and services for the community.

You can support us by including theteloscope among the list of BPs that deserve your vote.
