The Teloscope Weekly report: 24–30 Dec 2018

How do you like to spend the last week of the year? The Teloscope team not only like having fun together, but they enjoy working together too. So we did not took this week off. Instead we kept working hard towards making Telos great.

BP Infrastructure

First let’s tell you about something that was deliberately left out in our previous report because of the associated timeframe. Since the 23th we’ve been coordinating with the RAM director so we are ready for any active measures to be taken in the near future in order to keep the speculators away from driving the RAM price much higher than the reference figures.

As more standby BPs were getting their first turn in being active and new ones regproduce on the Telos mainnet, the interest in checking BPs performance was obvious. And also they were interested in comparing not only their own performance with the rest of Telos BPs but also with EOS ones.

To satisfy an existing demand we created and publicly shared a clean and automated sheet with BP ranked by performance, the same measurements used by AlohaEOS CPU Benchmark Tool.

It seems that we’re not alone in this BPs perfomance quest, as only two days later Kainos BP announced the Telos Tech Proxy (tlostechprox) for voting those BPs that have the most technically advanced teams and infrastructure.

And guess what? Yes, The Teloscope is among the list of BPs voted by tlostechprox. And you can bet we’ll try our best to keep it that way 😄

Correct us if we are wrong, but we think that this is the first Telos voting proxy that is based in plain measurable metrics that any user can check and verify. The rest of proxies usually rely on personal decision of their creators or at best on subjective criteria with no shared hard data about the decisions made to vote for BPs included. That’s what we call “arbitrary proxies”. Our advice: Please take your time to vote directly for your 30 preferred BPs. And if you do not know, or do not have the time, please rely only on proxies with measurable indicators you are pleased with, and that you could later check by yourself.

The Teloscope Bot
Rising a useful bot for Telos is something that has no end! So on top of all the existing features this week we managed to add real time TLOS pricing.

By typing the /tlos_price command you get the real-time price of TLOS token for these trading pairs: TLOS/EOS and TLOS/USD.*FVrmSEyBGGx10Kb_fU6fzg.png
List of commands available, including TLOS price.

We also updated The Teloscope Bot user guide accordingly.

We have the people and good ideas to lead the development of useful tools for the Telos community, and it seems like we caught the eye of other BPs that are trying to create and promote their own Telegram bots. Good luck mates! We welcome healthy competition if that can benefit the community. It won’t be easy, though, The Teloscope bot has tons of features and it’s lightning fast!. 😆

New BP bot
We’re putting the finishing touches on a special version of our Telegram Bot designed for better BP operations. This bot will allow BPs to be notified of some important actions executed on the network and react to them much faster that now. We think this will be a good tool in the BP arsenal.

We’re not looking to be a Telos BP that adulates powerful BPs, rubs personal egos, and asks the community to finance private interests. Seriously, we are not interested in cross-voting schemes or arbitrary proxies. That’s never been us and never will be. We have higher goals than that. We want to do work that matters. We want to make a difference.

We’re still wrapping our heads around how some BPs would rather engage in pointless witch hunting than welcome and encourage anyone who’s willing to pour resources into improving Telos for the benefit of all the token holders.

Just check out our code of conduct to discover our highest level of commitment with the Telos community. And that’s not just words, we back it up with facts, WE DELIVER!

Being average is easy. Being great? That’s pretty damn hard. We aim for the moon and we’ve just launched, would you join us? 🚀
