  1. Don’t expect the world to make you happy
  2. Never do anyone any harm
  3. Don’t be led astray from being loving
  4. See every image of love as love
  5. Hear every word of love as love
  6. See everyone you meet as love
  7. Remember that being loving always helps
  8. Remember love every time you eat
  9. Remember love again and again all day
  10. Show everyone what being loving looks like
  11. Do everything with love
  12. Take love seriously

From ‘Dharma means the truth about love’, an endless project to find the simplest, most useful ways to put dharma into words. This poem is loosely based on a set of twelve Buddhist precepts. I like that ‘remember love every time you eat’ sounds like the most random idea in the world, but is just a pragmatic way to make sure it happens at least sometimes. You can read more here.

Or you can download a copy of my version of Lao Tsu’s Tao Te Ching (‘I thought I was on the way to work, but I was on the way home’) here.
