SPOILERS FOR ‘ACROSS THE SPIDER VERSE’ — OBVIOUSLY.

‘Across the Spider Verse’ is part one of a two part sequel to the 2018 animated film ‘Into the Spider-Verse’. The second part of the film will release in 2024 under the title: ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’. It will conclude the plot threads which were left in the air at the end of ‘Across the Spider Verse’.

What I am saying here might either become extremely relevant in one year or extremely irrelevant in one year. And I am willing to take that risk and write something which might age very poorly very quickly.

Across the Spider-Verse’ is technically an incredible film. It shifts its animated creativity into 6th gear, cranking up the level of visual diversity up to 11 in almost every scene. And it’s all done with a care which shows immense passion and love for the story and its themes. The animation style chosen for every scene fits the vibe and feel of that scene perfectly.

The visuals are not pretty for the sake of being pretty. They are directly communicating and engaging with the text of the film. More than other animated movies, what…
