Blonde: An Offensive Depiction of Marilyn Monroe

“Blonde is a vulgar, ridiculously pretentious and grotesquely cruel slo-mo prestige camp disaster. It is one of the most bizarre misfires my eyes have seen in years.”

TÁR, or The Everlasting Struggle to Differentiate the Art from the Artist

“Todd Field managed to go into amazing depths to make the audience be absolutely certain that Lydia Tár is a real, living human being and this achievement deserves a special accolade of its own.”

Elvis: The Illustrious Life of The King

“The story…is disappointingly a mixed bag. Luhrmann chose to play safe using the traditional biopic formula. It feels like a visual walkthrough of a Wikipedia page recounting the life of Elvis Presley, from his childhood to the rise and fall of his short-lived career before his tragic death at the age of 42.”

‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ is just bonkers. Absolutely bonkers!

“Everything Everywhere All At Once should be supported, seen, talked about, rewatched, reviewed, studied at cinema schools and elevated. This is what cinema is supposed to be.”

Avatar: The Way of Water is really good as an aesthetic experience

“Obviously, films are not just a series of stunning visuals. There is a narrative here, and for a movie to truly be a movie it needs to use its medium in an effective way to communicate something. It is clear that what Avatar 2 wants to communicate the most is AWE.”

Glass Onion — Yeah, It’s All Right

“If there’s one thing these movies get right, it’s pay-off. You feel excited, almost, to learn what’s going to happen next as Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) breaks down the entire mystery.”

Cassian Andor vs. The Avengers

“There is no room for epic villains in the form of Darth Vader (one of the best antagonists of all time) or Emperor Palpatine. It might come as a surprise since we’re in the Star Wars universe, but the bad guys in this series are just bureaucrats. Cogs in the huge machine that is the Galactic Empire.”

House of the Dragon and the Value of Keeping it Simple

“Prequels are a quite peculiar thing, if you think about it: they are meant to tell a story whose ending is already known. They must keep the audience engaged with twists and turns even though they already know the outcome of the characters’ actions. It’s a hard thing to do, especially if we consider how bitter fans of Game of Thrones were after the series ended.”

Wednesday — Just Another Teen Drama

“Wednesday isn’t herself in this series because she’s someone completely different. She’s simply insufferable, a pain in the wrong side that makes you cringe every time she opens her mouth, pitching some more dialogue that would make you want to roll your eyes into the back of your head. She continues telling us she’s bad news, but the only flash of it we see is in the first episode for all of ten seconds.”

‘Wednesday’ Is a Refreshing Introduction to a Familiar Character

“Jenna Ortega took the character and made it her own. Her performance was such a delight and fun to watch. She nails being the creepy goth. You may try to compare her to the Wednesday of the past, Christina Ricci, but don’t. Jenna brought a new life to the character. Jenna Ortega is the IT GIRL.”

WEIRDO Reviews: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

“…the breakout here is easily Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, the picture’s central antagonist. Providing a worthy foil to Wakanda’s forces as Talokan’s — the MCU’s version of Atlantis — leader, Namor brings the pain, as well as a charming likability with motives that are seemingly relatable.”
