Happy New Year, everybody!

It feels like just yesterday that I saw the first Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire in theaters. I was just a kid, but it’s hard to forget the first time seeing your childhood hero swing on the big screen. Years after, we were blessed with Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man, which gave us a radically different take on the iconic character. Finally, we received arguably the most comic-accurate version of Peter Parker in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man when he joined Team Iron Man in Civil War. Now, we are here, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Without further ado, let’s talk about the epic third movie in Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man trilogy, No Way Home.

Last time we saw Tom Holland don the spider symbol was in Far From Home, where his secret identity was outed by Mysterio to the entire world. No Way Home picks up right when that announcement takes place. Although it’s difficult not to give you spoilers, I will say that the threequel brings the MCU Spider-Man’s story full circle. Word on the street is that a fourth movie is already on the way, but this one closes out the trilogy eloquently. Peter Parker has come a long way since battling the Vulture, and it shows here as he makes life- and reality-altering decisions.

Basically, the multiverse is real! It’s finally here and it’s here to stay. What that means exactly, you’ll just have to watch and see for yourself. When I tell you that it blew my mind, I mean I was the only one in the fairly empty theater at the time that stood up, shouted, clapped, and cried at every major moment in the movie. I hadn’t been this invested in a superhero film since Zack Snyder’s Justice League was first announced. It brought out the child in me and paid off years of world-building in spades. Yes, I saw it a second time. Yes, I plan to see it a third, and many more times after that. No Way Home’s story is revolutionary in a way that only fans of the comics can understand. For that, I thank you, Marvel.

Onward to the action! I don’t think I’ve ever seen Spider-Man fight so viciously in a live-action setting. But Peter is full of fury this time around, which makes for some epic fight sequences and moves that I only dreamed of seeing the wall-crawler do on film. The battles feel the most personal they’ve felt since fighting his ex-crush’s dad in Homecoming. That shows when Peter really lets loose and demonstrates just how strong he can be. Almost every 15 minutes, there seems to be something of significance happening, with huge set pieces or cameos galore, so the movie doesn’t even feel like it’s two and half hours long. Marvel does pretty well at keeping a solid pace going with their films, and No Way Home is no exception.

Like nearly every MCU film, No Way Home teases things to come. By the time the credits roll, we’re treated to a new [not going to tell you] and the emergence of a [you have to watch it]. Needless to say I’m excited for the announcements we’ll be receiving in the next few years about the Spider-verse.

Thank you guys for reading yet another WEIRDO Review. This year has been an interesting one, to say the least, but I look forward to what the next one will bring. It’s going to be a good year filled with good movies, so keep on the lookout for a review by yours truly, and I hope you have all have a blessed day! Happy New Year!

P.S. If you haven’t seen Spider-Man: No Way Home yet, what are you waiting for?
