Trump Administration Took Thousands More Migrant Children From Parents Than Reported, HHS Says

Separated children accounted for 0.3% of all unaccompanied minors taken into custody in late 2016, near the end of the Obama administration. By August 2017, the percentage had increased more than tenfold, to 3.6%.
