I have a love-hate relationships with my cell phone. I hate that you love your cell phone. And I love that you hate your cell phone. And I want you to hate your cell phone as much as I do.

Look at that picture above. If I’m on the beach, there’s no way my cell phone is even out of my pocket, if I’ve even brought it with me.

Tech and communications researcher Sherry Turkle has famously found that our cell phone usage makes us want to talk to each other less.

I recognize that the cell phone has made itself indispensable in today’s world. But is it truly necessary? I don’t think so. Is it too late to have a society without cell phones? Maybe, but maybe something in the future will disconnect us from our handheld devices.

Lose Your Cellphone, Find Some Time

This past weekend, I lost my cell phone.

I didn’t just misplace it. I lost it at a mall. I didn’t discover that it was missing until I got home, reached for my glasses and keys and cell phone usually resting in a cubby under the dashboard, and my cell phone wasn’t there.
