I Saw a Train

I saw a train
curve away on my right,
yellow beads of light
stringing night’s depths.
And I had seen a reed
bend beneath the
soft weight of a songbird,
warbling the sun.
And I knew
the curve and the bend
with my heart and mind,
and with all I hold sacred.
And I said in seeing
to myself, and aloud;
only genius could
capture that line.
There lies my mission.
