I was gonna take one last photograph of the empty space,
stare at the the stillness and emptiness of the air,
and try to remember the very last echo.

But I didn’t.

Eventually other people will carry on this place in my absence,
they will walk on the same walk;
sit on the same seat;
and laugh perhaps the same laugh.

The world I once knew,
lives I once crossed,
smells I still remember,
have long since moved on.

And so do I.
