the
phone i
waited to
hear the voices crawl
from your mouth, in between your lips,
and through the wireless, to tap dance with my eardrums
until they made me fall in love
all drunk and confused,
the line breaks
and you
hang
up
up
side down
in slumber,
we’d meet in our dreams
and i saw you by the phone booth;
stomping out a cigarette you’d let fall to the ground
in bittersweet soliloquy –
i heard the voices
haunting you,
wishing
you’d
call
