The Uninvited Guest

Discarded,
Bombarded
With thoughts of despair

Is how you make me feel
Every night.
Breathless air.

Unwelcome,
Unwanted
Like the snow in July

Is how I feel around you
Every day.
A silent cry.

The uninvited guest
You didn’t ask for
In your life.

Abandoned,
Disbanded
Is my sense of self-worth.

You stomped on it
With cold feet
That froze my toes.

And I died trying to find you
Under the frostbite
And throes.

I guess I lost my heart
When I gave it to you
To make whole.
