Keep your Temple Recommend Current

September 2020

That is the simple message from the bishopric this month.

It is impossible to be truly engaged in the work of uniting families for eternity without a current recommend.

Temples are beginning to re-open. The Church has implemented a phased approach to opening temples safely. Currently, many temples are open for those who need their own ordinances done.

And if you don’t plan to attend anytime soon, your recommend is still an important symbol.

Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley said about our recommends,

“This small document, simple in its appearance, certifies that the bearer has met certain precise and demanding qualifications and is eligible to enter the House of the Lord.”

President Howard W. Hunter likewise taught,

“It would please the Lord if every adult member would… carry a current temple recommend. The things that we must do and not do to be worthy of a temple recommend are the very things that ensure we will be happy as individuals and as families.”

To our Young Women and Aaronic Priesthood holders, especially, check on the status of your recommends.

It is a privilege to carry a temple recommend. Please check the status of yours. Call a member of the bishopric if it has expired.
