The dream
Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. — H. Jackson Brown Jr., P.S. I Love You”
We all have dreams in mind and often hear advices to follow them. Yet every step that we take into our life, our dream walks faster to the abyss. There must be some flaw in the way we’re trying to achieve these dreams. It’s definitely not our surroundings because a dreamer can tweak their environment in no time.
So how do we get to that dream?
In the Alchemist, Paulo Coelho frames it well
There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.
Have a good conversation with any successful human and you will find that they’ve tried different things in life. The only reason they’ve tried and failed is because they’ve removed the fear of the unknown.
Let’s name your present life as ‘Point A’ and the dream life you wanted to have as ‘Point B’. All we got to do is travel from point A to B.
Sounds simple though, however the road isn’t that easy.
We’d need to try out a lot of things, explore news paths and fail a lot of times to reach point B. Take that leap of faith to the unknown. What could possibly go wrong? Let that fear of failure go from you.
I left a job once while I was being offered a senior position. I wanted to know the unknown so I took the jump. Failed gracefully though but I’m up now and learned a lot about my surroundings and how to deal with it.
Once you’ve fallen, refine and mould the new you from the broken pieces. Shape and bend it. Like the old proverb says, it requires some skill to bend an iron but you can do it faster when it’s hot. Get moving.
If your environment is stopping it, break it. The more you fail and break yourself, the quicker you’ll be able to build your dreams. Re-arrange, rethink, re-allocate but do it faster.
Like a lego palace, de-assembling all of it will help you to build a much better one. A half de-assembled one will only restrict your ideas to grow. So start today. Fail faster and reach point B quicker.
Thank you for reading. Have a splendid day ahead.
If you’ve time, Email or tweet me your dreams. I’m eager to know about it.
